May you wake up
with a smile
and fall asleep
content!

Remember life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a beautiful well-preserved body but rather an adventure in which you skid in broadside, totally exhausted, thoroughly used up, loudly proclaiming,
"Wow! What a ride!"

All you need is love. But a little chocolate now and then doesn't hurt.

"Nothing tastes
as good
as skinny feels."

(I keep hoping someday I'm going to believe this!)

Don't hesitate to treat yourself because Cinderella is proof that one pair of shoes can change your life!

You only go around once in life but if you do it right, once is enough!

What is it about life these days? The people who aren't present always seem to be more important than the ones who are.

Well, after 3 years, I've finally updated my website, mostly for fun but also to keep my brain in gear. Writing in HTML code is trickier than I remembered so if there are a few links that don't go anywhere, please forgive me, I'll fix them as soon as I find them myself.

There's a new menu selection on the signpost for my Favorite Photos. While I truly appreciate beautiful photos of mountains and sunsets and landscapes, they're just not my thing. The photos that grab me are that those that capture unique moments in time that make you go oh my gosh! or aaah! or just make you smile. I've saved a lot of them over the years so come back every once in awhile to see the newest ones I've added.

There's also a new menu selection on the signpost for Bill's Photos. These are Bill's favorites — some of him and some he's taken himself. I'll update this page often too so do come back. And if you'd like to comment on any of his photos, you can email Bill at billbarcla@gmail.com.

And earlier today, we went on a picnic to Avila Beach with friends of ours, Dan and Anne-Marie. Anne-Marie was babysitting the sweetest little dog, Chloe, for the day and I was holding Chloe and we were looking at the ocean, and Anne-Marie called my name and I turned and just like that, Anne-Marie snapped our photo. It's such a good photo — especially the color and composition — that I had to post it.

My husband is a golfer at heart and he tries to play at least 3 times a week. He shoots in the low 80s so yeah, he's a pretty good golfer, but still, I thought maybe I'd get him a golf ball imprinter for the upcoming Father's Day just in case he hooks a ball and has to go looking for it. Then one of his friends posted this on Facebook.

"Why in the world would anyone want to put their name on a ball? Every time I hit a house or a car on the course, I get rid of any balls in my bag that match my markings."

I'm starting to rethink my Father's Day gift!

Trump voter in the making

Would've been Trump voter

A Manhattan jury found Donald Trump guilty on all 34 felony criminal counts of falsifying business records regarding payment of hush money to conceal his affair with Stormy Daniels which Trump believed, if the affair became public, would damage his run for reelection as President.

You know what this means? It means the American justice system works. A good judge presided over the trial and he did his best, there was a prosecuting attorney and a defense attorney who both did their best, and there were 12 jurors who swore to do their best. And in 12 hours of deliberating over 2 days, all 12 jurors found Trump guilty on all 34 counts.

What a profoundly reassuring day in the history of America!

— Bill —
We celebrated our 37th anniversary last New Years Eve.

I've now been married longer than I was alive when we got married! How about that!
We're still pals and I sometimes watch golf with him on tv and he sometimes helps me cook and garden and even after all these years we still think everything's better together.

IN HEARTFELT MEMORY

— Bailey —
Bailey was our first cockapoo and the most incredible little dog. Everyone knew our little guy because he went everywhere with us for almost 17 years — restaurants, movie theatres, graduations, more airplanes than most people, he even went on a 3-day jury duty trial with me in 1993 (of course no one knew). And he was so cute that he won Kim Basinger's Nuts for Mutts dog show in 2005 for being the cutest dog out of hundreds.

— Andi Pandi —
She was my treasure and my little shadow for almost 17 years and the last of our animals to leave us. She left a huge hole in our lives that we'll never be able to fill.

— Murphy —
My big black hunk of pure love who's favorite place was my lap even though he weighed 50 lbs.

— Boo Boo —
I had coffee every morning with Boo snuggling in my lap. I used to say I liked my coffee with a little cream, a little sugar, and a lotta kitty!
